Snapchat Research Creates NeRoic
Snap’s research team has presented a paper at SIGGRAPH, the week of 8th August 2022. The NeRoic research paper details a new way to digitise items/assets for Augmented Reality, seamlessly transitioning from images and videos sourced from Google or other online collections to create a 3D AR object. This cutting edge technology is called Neutral Object Capture and Rendering from Online Image Collections (NeRoic). It will remove the need for studio photography and rendering by simply taking photos/videos of an object from different angles and use the NeRoic method to digitise the asset.

TikTok’s New Ad Targeting Transparency Tools
TikTok is introducing a new ‘about this ad’ feature on the app which will allow users to tap any ad in their feed and view some reasons why they’re seeing it. You could be seeing adverts based on your age (e.g. seeing car rental service ads if you are 25+) or the interests TikTok has learned via your interactions. This is another step TikTok are taking to be more transparent with their advertising practices and helping users understand how ads work on their platform. The ‘about this ad’ feature can be found in the 'share' menu in the lower right corner of an ad, or with a long press on the ad. Users will also be able to access their ad personalisation settings and easily change their preferences. Users can also click on "Learn more" to visit "Ads and Your Data" for the latest guides for users to understand how TikTok uses data for advertising.

Instagram’s Branded Content Tips From Creators
Meta spoke to creators @luanndiez, @iamdsprings, and @markianb at VidCon US to get their tips and tricks for creators and brands on getting started with branded content. This includes letting creators share their story by allowing creators to openly voice their opinions. This is an opportunity for businesses to amplify diverse voices and to be authentic to their communities. Also outlined is ensuring a creator’s values align with the brand’s values, suggesting that brands should research creators and take time to immerse themselves in their communities to ensure values align on both sides. Another tip is asking creators to pin branded content to the top of their grid. The new grid-pinning feature could take branded Instagram content to the next level as pinning to the top of their Instagram grid means this will be the first thing followers see when looking at their profile.

LinkedIn Introduced Clickable Links To Posts
In 2021, Instagram expanded sharing links in stories to all users - a move which was well received by smaller businesses and individuals alike. LinkedIn has gone a step further and is rolling out the ability to add clickable links to your posts. Geri Silver, LinkedIn’s Creator Manager announced the new feature in August and welcomed feedback from the community. The news was well received, with users praising the update and asking questions to learn more. One user asked if links could be added on videos, another whether UTM tracking could be used (the answer to both is yes ).
Post links will allow job posters, sales professionals and thought-leaders to share content and drive action and engagement within LinkedIn and to external URLs. However, as this is a new feature it is being rolled out slowly, not all users will be able to use it yet. At Eleven Miles we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled to see how businesses use the feature to engage their audience, and are looking forward to testing it with our clients to drive more results on the platform.
