Meta Announces Updates For Reels

Meta is rolling out updates for Reels, giving creators more options when formulating content. Creators can use templates, new interactive stickers, and audio editing options, plus more. The clips can also be made up to 90-seconds long, as opposed to the previous 60-second format.

TikTok Announces Partnership with WooCommerce:

TikTok will now allow WooCommerce users to sync their store catalogue with their TikTok profile. The shopping platform hosts almost one-third of all online shopping websites and will allow merchants to link their products directly.

Pinterest Acquires Ai-Powered Shopping Platform “THE YES”:

Pinterest has acquired THE YES, which is an AI powered shopping platform for fashion. This allows users to shop a personalised feed based on their active input on brand, style and size. The AI platform offers a personalised daily shopping feed that learns a user’s style as they shop with hundreds of merchants across the fashion space.

TikTok Introduces New Content Marketing Partner:

TikTok has added the capability to publish content to the platform via a selected set of social media management platforms. Users will be able to publish through their chosen tool as well as being able to manage and track content. Some of the platforms selected include Hootsuite, Later, Khoros and more.

Meta is Removing Certain Ad Targeting Options and Expanding Ad Controls:

Since January 2022, Meta has rolled out changes to the way advertisers can target users. In a move that addresses feedback received from Civil rights experts, advertisers can no longer use detailed targeting options that relate to topics people may perceive as sensitive. Such as options referencing causes, organisation, or public figures relating to health, race or ethnicity, political affiliation, religion, or sexual orientation. In a statement, Meta said the decision to remove these Detailed Targeting options “was not easy” but that they “routinely review, update and remove targeting options to simplify their ads system and reduce the potential for abuse.”. Meta acknowledges that this targeting update may negatively impact some businesses. However, they feel confident they can evolve their ads system to meet the needs of all advertisers. At Eleven Miles, we are following Meta's best practices to help our clients continue to reach their target audience. This includes utilising Custom and Lookalike audiences, which we already know can out-perform interest-based targeting.

Twitter Adds Option To Pin Tweets In Communities Timeline:

Twitter is encouraging engagement within Communities, allowing mods and admins to pin tweets at the top of the Communities tab on web. Twitter Community mods will now have the option to ‘Pin to Community Timeline’ on any Community tweet.

LinkedIn Announce New Blog Series:

LinkedIn has introduced a series of blog posts, to be updated each week, as a way of ‘mythbusting the feed’. Their aim is to be transparent with users about how the feed and platform work. The first two videos in the series look at what kind of conversations are welcomed on the platform and what it means to be professional in terms of content on LinkedIn. The next posts will focus on how the algorithm works, and content distribution and how we work to address bias.
