A small but exciting update comes to Twitter this week as they have announced the introduction of ‘Hashfetti’ to the app. This follows on from the branded hashtag push on Twitter to bring up engagement. ‘Hashfetti’ is an idea developed by Twitter’s Leah Culver and her team in 2022, where when users tap on branded hashtags they will see confetti fall across their screen of the brand’s chosen custom emoji ( for Louis Vuitton X Yayoi Kusama), to drive up engagement.

YouTube Updates For 2023: Focusing On Shorts, Analytics & YPP

Youtube has posted their first creator insider video of 2023 and outlined their most immediate new updates for the new year. This includes a change to YPP contracts, with the main update being that channels will be able to earn money from ads which run between videos in the Shorts feed. The Shorts Fund will be disappearing following the addition of Shorts ads revenue and monetisation on video views. Also, there will be new analytics updates for creators such as video thumbnails and length breakdowns. Finally, Shorts thumbnails are still in the works, but creators are now able to select a frame from their videos to act as a thumbnail on videos as a first step.

The new ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ tabs will replace ‘Home’ and ‘Latest’ on the Twitter website,  iOS and Android devices as of 20/01/23.

ChatGTP - The Google Replacement?

The ChatGTP chatbot is the newest internet trend taking over social media, with talk about its arrival really picking up in the past few weeks. Chat GTP is a language model developed by OpenAI, which can be used for “natural language processing tasks” meaning that users can go on to chat.openai.com (when it’s not too busy!) and ask the AI generator a question or for it to, and the programme will scour the internet to find what it deems to be the best ‘human-like’ answer. The application can be used for a whole range of things, some more practical such as language translation and question/answer chats and others more creative like asking it to write an essay in the style of William Shakespeare or suggest a caption for your brand’s latest Instagram post.
