WhatsApp Communities Now Available

WhatsApp have recently announced the rollout of their new Communities feature on the app which will be available for all users globally over the next few months. This feature will allow users to join multiple groups under one umbrella to organise group conversations on the app. The aim of Communities is to "raise the bar for how organisations communicate” through WhatsApps end-to-end encryption, ensuring security and privacy. WhatsApp is also adding 3 new features to the app; the ability to create in-chat polls, hold up to 32 person video calls, and have a group with up to 1,024 users.

Meta Announces New Tools for Creators to Build Businesses on Facebook and Instagram

Meta has announced that they are introducing new tools for creators to build businesses on their platforms. This includes a way in which creators can make their own NFTs and sell them to fans and collectors, both on and off Instagram. Meta is adding a new monetisation option for Instagram Reels in which fans can show their appreciation for their favourite creators by gifting on Reels by purchasing Stars within Instagram. This feature is currently being tested with a small group of creators in the US with a view to hopefully roll this out to more creators soon. Meta is also launching Professional Mode for Facebook profiles, a new profile setting on Facebook which allows users to build a public presence at the same time as maintaining their personal profiles.

TikTok Announces New Features For Native American Heritage Month

In honour of Native American Heritage Month, TikTok are launching a number of new initiatives. The new updates include hashtag programming where users can visit the new #NativeTikTok hub which features videos from Native and Indigenous creators. Also throughout the month, TikTok will be putting a spotlight on inspiring creators and content that showcases Native American art, culture and tribal heritage. There are also TikTok LIVEs scheduled for the month featuring Native American creators, and a playlist will be released featuring an eclectic range of Native music artists. TikTok have also outlined a number of creators who inspire and educate the TikTok community by sharing their culture through food, music, dance, traditions, plus more.

Strava Launches New Lens On Snapchat

Snapchat and Strava have teamed up to create a new lens which allows users to share their fitness triumphs with their friends and family on the app. With this new lens, users can take a Snap or post a Story visually showing their reaction to their most recent workout featuring data from the Strava app. The lens can be accessed through Snapchat’s Lens Explorer, in the Strava app or in Strava's Public Profile.

Meta Announces The Global Expansion Of Professional Mode

Meta has announced it is making professional mode available on Facebook to all creators, allowing users to grow their platform on the app. With professional mode, creators will have monetisation opportunities with the content they share on the app through new programmes, such as US creators being able to apply to join Reels Play which allows creators to earn money for the Reels they share. Professional Mode will also allow creators access to tools to help build their audience, such as Top Fans which helps creators to identify and interact with their most engaged fans whilst incentivising users to interact with other similar creators. Creators can also access a number of professional tools and enhanced safety features, such as Community Manager which will allow creators to assign a moderator for live stream chats.

Elon Musk Announces Twitter Blue

Following his recent purchase of Twitter, Elon Musk has announced Twitter Blue which will allow users to become verified for $8 per month. Twitter Blue will give users: Priority in replies, mentions and search, the ability to post long video and audio, half as many ads and paywall bypass for publishers who work with Twitter, as well as the blue checkmark.
